End of summer haul

I popped into town at the weekend and picked up a few bits and bobs but I saw some sale signs and got a little sidetracked....

I got these red crochet-style espadrilles for £4 in Peacocks. They are wonderfully comfortable and possibly the best four quidoodles I've spent this year.

Then from Dorothy Perkins, I found this beauty. Some how, despite my many fashion and beauty obsessions, one for belts seems to have slipped through the net and I barely own any. But if I keep seeing ones like this, that may well change. It is a muted grey colour but its slight iridescence catches the light and makes it a little different to the usual plain old ones I tend to see. I loved the shiny gold buckle and the fact that it has lots of holes means that I can get it to fit me perfectly.

Then my final stop was Topshop. Admittedly, I wasn't going to find the makeup wipes and deodorant I needed in there but as I was passing by, it would have been rude not to.

Like Miss Selfridge, Topshop always have some great jewellery sales, so I had a good rummage through the Topshop offerings and although lots of gorgeous sparkles and feathers caught my eye, I managed to be good and limited myself to one piece of gorgeousness.

With a tidal wave of statement rings hitting us at the moment, I liked how this was quirky but still dainty. I've been wearing it almost every day since I bought it and, being gold, it goes with so many outfits. The sale sticker said '£2.50' but when I got to the till, it turned out to be £1.50.

So all in all, a nice little haul wouldn't you agree?

Festival Fluorescents

V Fest may be over for this year but there's still Reading and Leeds, Creamfields and Brownstock for any of you festival-goers out there to look forward to. If you are into music festivals or you just like festival fashion, you'll know that they're a great excuse to go all out. Huge boots, tiny dresses, funky patterns and of course bright colours. If you can't afford a whole new festival wardrobe, or you aren't hitting any festivals this year, then why not go for some bright, outlandish makeup instead?

If I want some cheap bright makeup, W7 is usually the brand I turn to.

Left to right: Pink Paradise, Fluorescent Yellow, Orange Creme

Their nail polishes will give you a nice bit of change from a fiver and they last for a ridiculously long time, considering the cost - after 4 days, I only had a tiny bit of chipping at the tips of my nails. Not only that, but they also dry super quickly too.

I was in a bit of a rush so my application was rather sloppy, hence the nice bumpy orange nail!

But if you want to go really crazy, then head for the W7 eyelashes, like this crazy pink and black spotty pair. Unfortunately, I've only got as far as taking some photos of these. I'm not quite brave enough to actually wear them yet!

I see a lot of W7 products in New Look stores but you can also get hold of what's seems to be the entire W7 range at www.faithcosmetics.co.uk.

So if you're off to Reading festival this weekend, enjoy! And don't forget some eyelashes!!

Prada on the cheap

I popped into Zara when I was in Cannes the other week as I noticed a huge red 'SOLDES' sign and just couldn't resist.

They had loads of gorgeous dresses and corset tops but unfortunately none of my favourites were in my size. But I did pick up a hot pink slouchy jumper for 10 euros which isn't particularly great for summer but I'm sure will look rather cute and retro in the chillier months.

While I was there I also spotted a great triangle bikini in the sale (again only tiny and huge sizes left) which really reminded me of the bold stripes we saw on the catwalk at the Prada show this Spring/Summer. I couldn't find the bikinis on the website but it may be worth having a quick look in store if they still have a few sale rails left!

Say hello to Thelma

I know this post is a little picture-heavy but I just think my little bracelet is so cute and dainty, it doesn't need much explanation. A month or so ago, the lovely Emily from Ruby and Rose Jewellery sent me this this little beauty which goes by the name of 'Floral Thelma', reflecting my current love for vintage, granny-chic, perfectly. It came wonderfully, but simply, packaged and whenever I wear 'Thelma' I feel rather dainty and graceful! Hehe!

Admittely, not all the pieces are quite to my taste but they are all wonderfully cute and handmade by the lovely mother and daughter duo, Marion Paterson and Emily McIntyre and aren't too pricey either.

So if you fancy some cutesy jewellery made by some lovely Scottish ladies (who are so lovely and fantastic that they've had their jewellery featured in mags like Vogue and Tatler!), do pop over to their website and have a browse.

P.S. After writing this, I've noticed that my bracelet seems to have disappeared from the Bracelet section of the R&R site but they still have lots of other lovely ones left for you all!

Striped success

When the nautical trend pops up on the catwalk what seems like every S/S, I'm usually the last in line to pick up some sailor stripes, however, H&M may have managed to win me over this year.

I picked up this navy and white striped cardigan a few weeks back and I've been wearing it non-stop. But don't worry, it has been through the washing machine once or twice in between!

It has just a few stripes so it's not too overwhelming, and being 100% cotton (ORGANIC cotton), it's also ridiculously soft, whilst the little pearly buttons keep the design simple. At £10 each, so wasn't exactly left a dent in my bank balance which was refreshing considering how much I seem to be spending on clothes at the moment.

Great quality and great price. I'd expect nothing less from H&M. Oh, and the whole nautical thing's not too bad either...
